The region-free Sony BDP-S6700 is a new model that's been released with the 2016 Sony blu-ray lineup. Equipped with built in Wi-Fi and the Sony Entertainment Network, this player gives you simple connectivity to streaming media services, social media networks and your favorite apps like Netflix, Youtube, Hulu, Pandora and more. You can enjoy hours of your favorite TV shows, movies, music on demand, and a wide variety of news or informational content personalized to your specific tastes. Far more than just an ordinary Blu-ray player, the BDP-S6700 delivers rich home entertainment options, including 3D playback for a theater-like experience in the comfort of your own home and 4k up-scaling to provide the highest resolution picture possible for non-4k movie titles.

As a DLNA compatible device, the BDP-S6700 is also an excellent choice for anyone with a large media collection. While connected to your home network, you can share movies, photos, videos, music and more - all wirelessly. This makes it easy to view your favorite media on your TV screen or play your music library over a surround sound system. Other wireles features include Miracast which lets you share your mobile device's display on your TV screen and Wi-Fi Direct which makes it possible without the need for a wireless router or access point. Sony's Sideview app is also available on this unit, acting as a remote interface that lets you control your Blu-ray player from anywhere in the house via your smartphone or tablet.

Other features that come packaged with the BDP-S6700 include 2D to 3D conversion which adds 3D-like depth to non-3D movies, and high-definition audio such as Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD High Resolution Audio & DTS-HD Master Audio. This model is equipped with a digital coaxial output, a HDMI output, ethernet port and a frontal USB port with image/video/audio support for media sharing. The frontal USB port also works for a Playstation DualShock 4 controller.
