| Some common questions you
may ask about Code-Free DVD players : How does it work?
We fit a specially designed custom chip to the DVD player
which controls the region coding.
Our chip is no ordinary piece of silicon, it controls the
very identity of the DVD player it is fitted to.
Developed by some of the best PIC and hardware
programmers in the business, it not only changes the
region coding on a DVD player perfectly but is also
designed to be future-proof against detection.
Our chips have the following special features :
Full
DVD Branching and Interrogation Gateway
All new DVD discs are protected with the DVD 'branching'
system where the DVD movie discs interrogates the DVD
player for it's identity. Our chip sets a virtual
gateway from which to send back the perfect region coding
information to enable the disc to be played.
Anti-disk
detection system
New DVD discs are arriving with better and smarter
protection, our chip has an auto-shut down mechanism
designed to reduce power consumption from the player to
zero during use and perfect 'cloaking' against DVD disc
detection.
Any DVD movie discs that searches the player for our
Code-Free chip will find absolutely nothing.
Anti
'Identity bluff' System
The cutting edge of DVD disc protection comes in the form
of the 'Identity Bluff' system.
As an example, a Region 1 disc itself can be encoded as
REGION 2, then interrogates the player for REGION 1
region information before being able to be played.
DVD players that read the region information from the
disc (or auto-detect players) result in a 'wrong region'
message being displayed. Not so with our chip, our
Region information is controlled by the user therefore
cannot be fooled by mis-information from the DVD disc.
NEW Flash
Upgrade Facility
Now we can fully re-flash our software using DVDR discs. This
enables you to replace firmware in selected players via a disc should
the DVD players operating system/software has to be upgraded.
Should we develop further features such as Macrovision
disabling or FBI warning skip for your DVD player, we can issue you with a disc to upgrade
your player with these new facilities.
Why
does DVD Region Coding exist in the first place?
Due to the 'staggered' movie release system, it was
important that DVD movies were controlled in some way.
When a feature film is made, only a certain amount of
film reels are made for cinemas. To make film
reels for every country worldwide at the same time would
be expensive, so each continent receives film reels in a
'staggered' order.
Typically, the film reels will be shown in America and
Canada first, then shipped to Europe, then to
Australia/Asia. As a result, DVD movies can
sometimes be released in US at the same time/before
movies are shown in cinemas in Europe/Asia. This
makes it desirable to have a Code-Free DVD player.
Is it legal?
Yes, Code-Free DVD players are perfectly
legal. You will however, be unlikely to find Code-Free
DVD players at retail outlets as it is somewhat
controversial.
How
is my warranty affected with a Code-Free DVD player?
We give a full warranty on all DVD players. All
returns are made to ourselves, not manufacturer
